Story
The Prince of Wales Residential Home based in Ipswich has been providing residential care of a very high quality for many years.
The home is categorised as OUTSTANDING by the Care Quality Commission.
The staff are compassionate, kind and caring. Residents are provided with the care and support they need to stay independent and live life to the full.
Resident participation in everyday activities is essential in reducing any feelings of isolation or loneliness and a huge importance is put on lived experience and what people want to engage in. Everyone is there to support one another as one big family.
In support of the team of dedicated staff the home are appreciative of the help and support of volunteers and donations enabling them to continue to offer a wide range of external activities, such as theatre trips and seaside visits. These trips are a specific highlight to the residents as it gives them the opportunity to continue to enjoy activities we often take for granted.
Our family connection to Prince of Wales is through our mum, Sonia.
During 2017 mum unfortunately suffered a stoke and as a subsequence of routine scans was diagnosed with a brain tumour, which has been successfully removed. Mum continues to make incredible progress and is currently flourishing under the care and support of the staff at Prince of Wales.
Therefore, we as a family 'Team Sonia' are to take part in the Orwell Walk to raise money for Prince of Wales Residents Amenities Fund as a means of helping to support them in continuing to make a difference in return for the tremendous difference they have made to our mum's life.
All donations gratefully received.
