I'm raising £10000 to give Alfred the best opportunity to access treatments and therapies that help him get stronger and achieve his dream to walk one day.

Story

Alfred is 10 years old and suffered a brain injury at birth. Within the first 24 hours of his life, doctors opinions of 'no hope' went to 'he's fighting back'. Knocking his own ventilator out and managing to breath on his own while going though cooling treatment to stop the spread of brain damage. At 11 months old, Alf, was diagnoses with Quadriplegic (full body) Cerebral Palsy and given a bleak prognosis. However, with the help of an ever-growing team of fundraisers, Alfred, has completed thousands of hours of different therapies to prove anything is possible.

Following our Education Tribunal Win and the recognition of how vital the intensives are to Alfred's life we've been discussing new goals with him.

Alfred has always had a huge love of water and for years we've heard so many success stories about Swimlab intensives. Stories of children similar to Alf, that have learnt to swim on their own, which is another dream of Alf's. This year we've got the opportunity to take Alfred to Swimlab for his first ever swim intensive later in the year and we desperately need the support of Team Alfred to help get him there.

Recently, Alf's home therapy has gone from strength to strength with the addition of The Listening Program and specialist guidance.

Our target this year is to raise £10,000 to pay for his first Swimlab intensive, funds towards accommodation for Alfred's 9 weeks of intensive therapy in London, and keep building on the home therapies with equipment and specialist therapists guiding us.

Alfred's number one goal is still to walk/run around with his awesome friends, as well as become a superhero. New to the list is to see Ed Sheeran live, maybe even meet him to discuss all his songs. The soundtrack to home therapy, wake alarms and bedtime routines. Alf's love for music has really flourished since we last started a fundraising campaign.

Alf has the drive and determination to achieve his dreams but it's our job as his parents to give him the tools. Without the support of Team Alfred these last 9 years, he wouldn't be where he is now. Proving anything is possible.

So here we go again, start of summer 2026, giving it our best shot again. #TeamAlfred
