Weʼve raised £780 to Help #CureCancer & Support Families with The Ultimate Challenge Series on behalf of my Grandad's Terminal Cancer #TeamBrian (events below)

Funded on Tuesday, 4th February 2020

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

    The Ultimate Challenge Series

On Friday 11 October 2019, I will start The Ultimate Challenge Series, to help cure cancer:

First challeng is only foot and bike we will embark on a journey from Gibraltar to Southern UK covering over 2,000km: in just 10 consecutive days (planned sequence is Half Marathon, 100 mile cycle & another Half Marathon). This is apart of one epic 12 month Fundraising journey.

All will be documented on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/liamwalkertri/

For a special important cause ......

My Grandad (Brian) has cancer and unfortunately it is terminal, he lives with knowing his condition will only deteriorate.

It is a story with no real happy ending, which is all too common.

He bravely continues to embrace life, still having the wonderful smile on his face (yes, here in the photo he has cancer) He has also had a rough few years, hip replacement, kidney replacement.

This is where I got thinking and thought of fundraising challenges and #TeamBrian was created.

None of these challenges albeit hard, compare nothing to the evils and pain of cancer.

I knew I'd have to go well beyond my capabilities with the challenges. I have never dared to go beyond Half Marathon or half Ironman! I have ran marathon distance once & cycled above 150km 5 times in my life!

So, it makes no real sense for what I'm about to do ... Again it's a meare 1,800km just 9 days on undulating terrain total being over 18,000m!

This is just the beginning ...

    In 2020:

    · PARKRUN: Parkrun in multiple locations under #TeamBrian (wearing blue)

    · July 2020: Ironman UK
    · April 2020: London Marathon
    · June 2020: The Fred Whitton (180km bike ride over every major pass in Cumbria, 3900m elevation)

    · AND ... that's not all ... There will be some other ridiculous challenge I haven't decided on yet, please throw your suggestions in the hat: Everesting, rowathon, run/cycle 24 hour events have all been suggested so far.

    Many Thanks
    Liam
