Story

Rydym yn casglu £5,000 i gynorthwyo Tim Egni, disgyblion blwyddyn 9 o Ysgol Glan Clwyd i gael cynrychioli Cymru yng nghystadleuaeth Ryngwladol Roboteg y First Lego League yn Detroit.

Hello! We are Team Egni, a year 9 robotics team from Glan Clwyd High School in St. Asaph.

Helo! Ni yw Tîm Egni, tim roboteg o Ysgol Glan Clwyd, Llanelwy.

We are competing in the First Lego League International robotics competition - a worldwide event in which teams of children aged 9-16 undertake a variety of programming, robotics, design, business and teamwork challenges based on different themes every year (Construction & civil engineering this year). In the competition, the competing teams are required to design, build and program a LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robot to solve a series of missions based on the theme designed by the First Lego League to make children think. In addition, teams must produce a project solving a real world problem based upon the theme.

Rydym ni fel tim yn cystadlu yn y gystadleuaeth rhyngwladol First Lego League. Mae’r FLL yn gystadleuaeth rhyngwladol lle mae plant oed 9-16 angen ymgymryd a sialensau o raglennu, roboteg, dylunio, busnes a sialensau cydweithredu fel tim sy’n seiliedig ar un thema (Adeiladwaith a peirianneg sifil flwyddyn yma). Yn y gystadleuaeth, mae’r timau sy’n cystadlu angen dylunio, adeiladu a rhaglennu robot LEGO Mindstorms EV3 i ddatrys cyfres o missions sy’n seiliedig ar y thema sydd wedi cael ei greu gan y First Lego League. Ar ben y rhaglennu mae’n rhaid i’r plant greu prosiect am broblem sydd i’w wneud a’r thema.

We have been competing in the event since January; After competing in the North Wales Regionals competition on the 23rd of January we were awarded a place in the England & Wales finals in Bristol on the 22nd of February. We worked very hard to improve our standard for the UK & Ireland final, and that hard work was rewarded as we won the overall best Welsh team award and a second place project award! With these awards came an invitation to compete in the First Lego League World Final in Detroit, Michigan, which will be held towards the end of April! We are the only Welsh team to have won any award and are therefore very proud to be representing our country.

Bu i ni weithio yn galed iawn i godi ein safonau ar gyfer ffeinal Cymru a Lloegr a talodd y gwaith caled i ffwrdd gan i ni ennill gwobr y tim gorau yng Nghymru ar ail brosiect gorau ym Mhrydain. Gyda’r wobr yma rhoddodd yr FLL le i ni gystadlu yng Ngwyl y Byd yn Detroit, Michigan ddiwedd mis Ebrill. Ni yw’r unig dîm Cymraeg i ennill unrhyw wobr ac rydym yn falch iawn i gael cynrychioli ein gwlad.

This is extremely exciting for us of course, and we are looking forward eagerly to represent our school Ysgol Glan Clwyd and of course Wales. However a trip to Detroit isn't cheap, and along with the cost of flights, accommodation for 4 pupils and 2 adult supervisors (including 1 teacher). We estimate a cost of £12,000 for everything that is needed.

Mae hyn yn gyffrous iawn i ni, wrth gwrs, ac rydym yn edrych ymlaen i gynrychioli ein ysgol ac wrth gwrs, Cymru. Wrth gwrs, tydi trip i Detroit ddim yn rhad, a gyda’r gost o hedfan drosodd i Detroit, gwesty i 4 plentyn a 2 staff (un ohonynt yn athro). Rydym yn amcangyfrif cost o tua £12,000 am bopeth fydd ei angen.

We cannot raise the money without the help of people like yourself. We would greatly appreciate any donation or sponsor, as it is the generosity and support of others that will help to get us to Detroit to compete. If you are interested in providing corporate sponsorship please get in touch with us at teamegni@gmail.com to discuss.

Ni allwn godi’r arian heb gymorth gan cwmniau a phobl fel eich hunain. Gwerthfawrogwn unrhyw gyfraniad neu noddwr; cymorth a haelioni gan eraill fydd yn ein galluogi i fynd i Detroit. Os oes gennych ddiddordeb ein cefnogi gadewch i ni wybod trwy e-bostio teamegni@gmail.com.
