    Story

As part of the NCS programe, Team Emeke are raising money for our Social Action Project. We wish to do a one- day campaign to raise awareness about Sufra Food Bank and people who may be living in "extreme financial vulnerability".

As a team, we wish to help those who are really struggling. This divides into a wide spectrum of people -each with different stories. From parents who work 3 jobs and are still unable to make ends meet or refugees who are without a job. Sufra Food Bank provide essential food and toiletries to those experiencing times of need. The volunteers do everything in their power to assist individuals but more importantly be a friend as well as someone to lean on. This food bank simply brightens their day.

Sufra NW London do not discriminate those who are in need of their help. They have a very strong Refugee Resettlement Programme so that it isn't merely about 'giving food'. They also have a beautiful edible garden for the community.

It's a place where people are distracted from their hardship and instead have a positive space to be.

In addition, Sufra NW London has a Community Kitchen that serve 3-course vegetarian meals every Friday evening for all to enjoy, a Food Academy which is a 6-week cookery course for young people, as well as a Food Academy Plus which consists of a course for adults that provides professional catering skills and empowers people to find work in the catering and hospitality industry.

With all of the following, Sufra is not funded by the government. It relies solely on donations given by the community (individuals, families, businesses). This is why it is necessary to raise awareness along with money to improve facilities and increase supplies so that the number of people Sufra NW London touch in turn increases.
