Jamie is adorable and nearly 4 but has had to deal with some major health set-backs, that have meant that so far he is not talking or walking.

Jamie was born with Down syndrome and for his first 8 months he was doing absolutely great he was babbling, sitting up and playing with his toys.

At 8 months old he developed a devastating form of epilepsy called infantile spasms, it effected Jamie profoundly, and for him, was resistant to medication for a long time. Because of his epilepsy, he became very ill and spent much of his time in hospital with chronic lung difficulties and was on oxygen for 2 years.

Jamie lost his ability to use his muscles, hands or hold his head up, at one stage health professionals thought he had become blind, he also lost the ability to swallow so is now tube fed. On top of all this we discovered he has a bowel condition called Hirsprungs disease which required major surgery and he has a stoma bag.

Thankfully Jamie’s epilepsy is now under control, he is able to sit up with help and works very hard to achieve even the smallest of milestones. He makes us proud every day!!

Jamie is super brave, and has had to deal with more hospital admissions and operations in his 4 years than most do in a lifetime. He is such a happy go lucky little boy and brings so much joy to everyone he meets.

He is getting to an age and size where we need vital equipment and to make adaptations at home in order to be able to keep him safe and continue to care for him, We are fundraising in order to be able to do this.
