Story
Team Karting Disabled Karting Program. Our a Two Seater Go Kart and specially adapted Hand Controls enables disabled and less abled bodied people take part in karting sessions around our highly popular indoor circuit on Queensway in Rochdale.
However we are restricted to the type of people we can get out on track due to limitations getting people in and out of the karts safely and in a dignified way. This is disappointing as we aim to make karting more inclusive for all.
The purchase of a Human Hoist (similar to what are used in hospitals) will allow us to lift people into the 2 Seater Kart and give them more dignity. It will also give us more flexibility in determining who can race in the 2 Seater Kart and experience the thrill of karting we all take for granted. .
At Team Karting we pride ourselves on all the work we do for the community. We've hosted a charity endurance race with Kart Force; they are a racing team for injured service men and women using motorsport to rehabilitate and integrate back into the community. For the charity race we used hand controls which were specially manufactured to allow drivers who didn't have use of their legs to race.
Nicolas Hamilton (Lewis Hamilton's brother) has proved that disabled people can compete in a high level of motorsport very successfully. It's time this was reflected in the grassroots of motorsport as well.
We believe that nobody should miss out on experiencing what it is like to access our track!
