We are raising money to support our amazing dear friend and colleague Lizzie Erian-Round who is fighting a rare form of malignant cancer - Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC).

Lizzie’s tumour originated her hard palate in her mouth and has sadly been identified to be an aggressive and high stage (stage 4) form of the disease. However with the right treatment she should have a good prognosis. ACC accounts for only 2% of all oral cancers, it has no known risk factors and is one of the only oral cancers not known to be related to smoking, drinking or HPV.

Lizzie has recently undergone two radical surgical procedures which involved major jaw surgery and reconstruction and is about to embark on an intensive course of a specific form of radiation called ‘proton beam therapy’ which involves being treated every weekday for nearly two months.

Overall recovery time from surgery is estimated to be around 9 months, while recovery from radiation can take up to 2 years. You can read more about Lizzie’s story here: https://tumouroustales.wordpress.com/

Lizzie is one of the most inspiring and optimistic people you will ever meet. While Lizzie would never ask for money herself and is not crowd funding for her full treatment at this point, we want to help take the pressure off at this difficult time. To keep up her spirits and support her through the long recovery and rehabilitation we’re raising funds through a series of exciting #TeamLizzie activities.

**One of Lizzie’s best friends Becky Birch and Becky’s mum Maddie are donning their Lycra and leading a small team that are attempting to cycle 1000km in a day on the 16th September. Wowza’s you guys are AWESOME!

**Corrina Safeio at Pegasus is also running the Berlin Marathon on 16th September for #TeamLizzie - Go Corrina! You can smash it!

**A bunch of Pegasus daredevils are going to climb and abseil down the world famous Emirates Spinnaker Tower which stands at 115 metres up. These brave souls will be attempting this dizzying feat during June and August.
