On the W/C 11th September, we will cycle 127 miles: from Liverpool to Leeds via the canal. It's going to be a massive challenge and we will probably whinge the entire journey, but we are doing it for Simba.

Simba is a nine month old puppy, who has recently been diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia. As a result he urgently requires both of his hips replacing; unfortunately, the cost of the procedure is £14,000 (excluding aftercare) and his insurance won't cover it. If Simba doesn't have the operations then the only other option is euthanasia.

Euthanasia cannot and will not be an option for Simba because he loved. He is loved beyond comprehension by his human family. He is loved at his dad's place of work, Quarmby Colour Studio, where he spends his afternoons cheering up the staff with balls, sticks and plans to raid the bins. Finally, he is loved by all his Dog friends, who would prefer for Simba's hips to be fixed so he can be less clumsy and tired during play.

The money raised will go towards ensuring Simba lives a happy, long and pain free life: the life that all dogs deserve.

127 miles is a long way to cycle and we aren't the fittest bunch. Team Simba consists of the young, old, unfit and some recovering from knee surgery. It's going to be a challenge. It is, however, a challenge we are embracing to keep this beautiful boy in our lives.
