Skye is a 10 year old girl from Northallerton who was born 5 weeks early weighing 4lb 11, she was then transferred to the RVI in Newcastle and had surgery on day 1 of her life, the surgeons discovered most of her small bowel had died leaving her with only 12cm (normal size in babies is 300cm) She was diagnosed with Jejunal Atresia, which is also known as Short Bowel Syndrome. Skye did not leave the hospital until she was 5 months old.

In her short life she has faced many challenges due to her condition such as having to have toes amputated due to septicemia. Skye's body unlike ours can not absorb any nutrients from the food she eats therefore every night she is hooked up to a Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) machine via a central line into her heart this gives her nutrients she needs to survive.

Skye is unfortunately on her final central line due to infections and a clot in her heart. If this needs to be removed Skye will be unable to receive her daily nutrition and will her body will shut down due to malnutrition.

She's now at the stage of needing a urgent bowel transplant, the consultants have said if she doesn't get a bowel transplant she will die.

Unfortunately the sad reality of this story is that Skye has been through more in her short life than many adults ever will. She WILL die if a transplant does not soon become available and even if she receives a transplant who knows what the future holds for this brave and strong little girl. Its with a heavy heart that I have had a conversation with Skye and her Mum (Chantelle) about what we can do to make Skye's dreams come true in what may be her final months.

Skye has already used her wish from make a wish foundation as she nearly died at 4 years old.

Skye has put together a wish list below and I really hope we can all make these wishes come true for her. I would also like to help take the pressure off her Mum because when shes has her transplant Skye will be in hospital in Birmingham for 4months.
