Story
Many of you know of or have seen Teddy on TV recently in Call the Midwife,
Teddy is a loving, gentle funny character who tries his best and loves to give back to people and organisation who help support/provide for him and the family.
Teddy has quad cerebral palsy, is a full time wheelchair user who finds taking any steps with a walker very very difficult, he has been having specialist physio in York weekly and works so hard, he is determined even more than ever this year.
He also has drug resistant epilpsey, autism and partially sighted,
Teddy is hoping to raise some funds for NESM (North east sight matters) who have supported and provided many activities, experiences and opportunities for himself and many other families all for free giving him confidence, self esteem and life long learning skills.
Teddy will be doing the GNR mini 50 on Saturday 6th September where he has to complete 50meters in 30 mins, this is very challenging for him but he is so determined to give it his best and has been training and working very hard with thanks to his therapy team at therapy in praxis.
NESM not only provide for his visual impairment but they also take all of his disabilities into consideration to ensure its fully inclusive for him and others.
The organisation is like a 2nd family who all support each within and out of the activities building fantastic friendships and support.
NESM is a Social Enterprise means that they do not automatically receive funding and have to work hard to receive any grants as a lot of funders will only fund charities.
There aim is to support children, young people and their families, especially through not exclusively those with sight impairment issues to improve their quality of life through the provision of valuable skills training, activities and events in order that they can become more independent and self-aware on their life’s journey.
