Story
Lucy Dyer was a fierce fiend and a woman of incredible strength and courage. Lucy joined us at Tenchi Ryu Aikido and became a firm favorite with us all at the club.

Lucy worked hard and always made time to help others. Women and young ladies who were shy/lacking confidence naturally gravitated to her, due to her easy open manners, quiet confidence and ever present smile. It was no surprise to us that Lucy found her way to nursing and we were so proud of her!

Unfortunately, in December 2019 Lucy was diagnosed, initially, with bowel cancer and received an emergency operation just before Christmas. The surgery showed that the cancer had already spread and there would be a long road ahead.
Undaunted was our Lucy! she forged ahead with her nursing training and continued to engage with us on the Mat when her treatment allowed. She was the most formidable fighter and through many ups and downs she trained at Aikido, walked with friends (when covid allowed!) worked on her nursing, swam in the sea. All with her incorrigible laugh, her no nonsense and NO PITY attitude - even when she received her terminal diagnosis.

Lucy passed away on13th June 2022. In memory of Lucy we are launching the 'Lucy Dyer Memorial Fund' managed through Tenchi Ryu Aikido. We want to encourage more women/young ladies to gain empowerment, strength & Confidence through the art of Aikido - just in the way Lucy did when she was training with us. Lucy's fund will offer support to those who want to train with us at Tenchi Ryu but are suffering financial hardships which are so common right now. We believe that its so important both physically and mentally to be able to socialise and exercise - we saw and heard this first hand with Lucy.
Please help us to kick start our funding! All monies donated will be supplied to Tenchi Ryu Aikdo - a registered CASC non-profit organisation where it will be distributed accordingly to financially assist training at the club where needed. All monies recorded are transparent in accounting and we have a governance document in place.

Please dig deep - lets keep everyone on the mat. You never know how much it can mean to someone, until they are unable to keep training.
