Story
TLC was founded in 2017 by Aimee Carson to provide social events in a great setting for people with dementia and their families and friends, this was in response to a real need in Liverpool for support and activities for people living with dementia and their families.
Aimee was originally employed by Sue Redmond and her family to provide 1-1 support for their mother Ann Redmond who has had dementia for 8 years. They have first-hand experience of the enormous stresses and isolation and sadness that this illness can bring to all affected by it. Like many families they did not find anything that worked for Ann or for them, and so developed their own support structures.
Aimee has since become very passionate about supporting people with dementia, the social events are in great demand and people have wanted more support on a 1-1 basis too.
Aimee and Sue decided to create a community interest company where they could help more people that are being affected by dementia.
Aimee was inspired by Ann Redmond to create a company that focuses on helping and supporting others in a caring and passionate way. Aimee identified there was a need for this level of service in the local community. Aimee believes that people who are affected by dementia should continue to live a fulfilled and enjoyable life. With the help and support of Tender Loving Care this is achievable.
Sue has been working all her life in health and social care to improve care and support for people who need it and has been a national trustee with the Alzheimer's society. Sue remains very passionate about the quality of care for people who need support and has been a champion to improve the status and support of the frontline staff who work in the care sector. Sue has direct experience of living with a relative with dementia and understands the stress, pain and distress that can impact on all family members, and the many ways with the right support that lives could be made easier.
TLC have now expanded their services providing 1-1 support to families in the community and supporting care homes, providing meaningful activities in care homes and delivering a wide range of accredited training courses including dementia awareness, dementia champion and person centred care.
TLC s aim “is to be the leading provider of support in the North West for people affected by dementia including family and friends, helping to maintain happy and active lives by working with passionate, caring and valued staff”
