Story
Our dad, Terence Littlemore passed away earlier this year. He lost his battle to an aggressive form of bowel cancer. Which all happened very quickly.
My dad in his younger years ran alot of marathons for charities. He completed the London Marathon 3+ times raising money for Halton Hospital and Halton Haven. He featured in the local newspaper on several occasions for these accomplishments. He also ran the Snowdonia marathon and the Manchester Potteries marathon yet again raising more money for charities.
Our dad trained for these marathons around Runcorn Town Park and by doing half marathons. So we wanted to give back to him and raise money in his honour and get him a commemorative bench made out of recycled material, in the very place he would train for his marathons.
I remember one day when I was quite young I decided to run with my dad and help him train, I got about 20 minutes (probably more like 5 minutes) into the run and gave in. Its fair to say I'm not cut out for distance running. But our dad however was very dedicated. He would train whatever the weather, whatever time day or night and for as long as he needed to.
After dads knees couldn't handle the impact of running dad switched to cycling. He would cycle back and too to work everyday weather permitting. He used to cycle through a park and one day got attacked by a thorn bush so at the weekend he drove to the park and cut back that bush and several others that were protruding onto the path. And also some of the bushes along the canal, as he didn't want to get caught again.
Our dad was counting down the pay days till he could retire, he had 1 year 2 months left before he passed away. His retirement was going to be spent mostly in the garden, he was an avid gardener, who had promised to look after all of our gardens aswell as his own.
Dad loved being outdoors. And was the first person most would turn to for help. He will be missed by every person he met. Always in our hearts.
