Story
Teresa has been an inspiration and influence to many people. Her story as we know it starts with her finding her passion in Hairdressing whilst accompanying her Mum on her weekly visit to the Salon, at the age of 12 Teresa lost her Nan to breast cancer which somehow pushed her into the direction of working at the Salon as a Saturday girl. This started her career as a Hairdresser, after 5 years of learning her skill she was given the responsibility of training the new apprentice. "I realised from this point that I was here to teach!!!"
In 1983 Teresa Married Mark Jordan. In May 1985 Mandy Louise Jordan was born. Teresa returned to work when her daughter was 18 months and worked with her Mum as a kitchen assistant! She then realised the following "At this point I decided I wanted to leave and be creative with people, not salad" This is where her freelance hairdressing began.
Everyone who knows Teresa knows of her love of Golf and in 1995 she became Ladies Captain. To date she had been a golfer at Bushey Hall Golf Club for over 40 years and had an active 12 handicap. Those of us who did know Teresa will always remember her arriving at West Herts dressed in her golf gear wearing killer high heels! Teresa loved her shoes and even bought a beautiful pair of red and silver stilettos a few weeks ago, which she was determined to wear one day, but sadly didn’t.
Despite having dyslexia in 2001 became a level 2 teacher at West Herts College. In 2002 she began working alongside her dear friend Linda running the summer school at West Herts and going out to do external assessments. She then became a permanent member of the team at West Herts teaching mature students. Her education continued and she proudly went to Greenwich University with her Mum and Dad by her side in 2007 to receive her 'Hat & Gown'. Her Father suddenly passed away later that year.
In May 2004 sadly Teresa's husband was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, losing his battle almost 2 years later in 2006.
In 2012 her daughter Mandy gave birth to Teresa's grandson Ted who filled her life with joy.
2013 Teresa was diagnosed with triple Negative Breast Cancer and continued to work whilst receiving treatment!!
Her latest battle this year was/is devastating for all that know and love her! The breast cancer returned and had spread into her spine, whilst ready to fight this head on as only Teresa could and would she sadly lost her battle.
We began with Teresa being an inspiration and influence to many, she was so much more than that as we are sure you all agree. We know she leaves a wonderful legacy in so many different aspects from her life.
