Story
Hi family and friends
On the 25th October 2025 Voices Unheard hosted its first Deaf Awareness and Neurodivergent Celebration event. It was an amazing time where families with deaf children and neurodivergent children came together to celebrate, learn together and enjoy embracing our difference. The DJ workshops and inspirational presentations by Deaf Rave exceeded expectations. The children and young people loved meeting, dancing and learning with MC Geezer and DJ Jeffo incredible deaf DJ's. They shared their inspiring stories, created songs with British sign language awareness, vibration vests to try which allows the deaf to feel music for an interactive experience.
I am excited to start raising funds for
Voices Unheard to continue to create deaf awareness and neurodivergent celebration. To share also about young carers, siblings to those with disabilities, to colaborate with other supportive organisations, to organise an event to bring parent/carers together to share our lived experiences to support eachother. Lots to plan and look forward to in 2026!
The funds will support creating events which will be empowering spaces where lived experiences are shared, differences are celebrated, and inclusion is not just discussed — but felt.
Voices often go unheard, the aim is to build a stronger, more connected community that embraces deaf identity, deaf culture, and neurodivergent ways of learning and communicating.
Inspired by my 13-year-old twins, Hannah and Jacob. Jacob was born with Kabuki syndrome which is a rare condition, he is deaf which is as a characteristic of his syndrome. He is also neurodivergent and expresses himself in a beautifully unique, musical way that continues to teach and inspire us daily.
Voices Unheard will raise the awareness needed on the importance of inclusion, and the celebration of differences.
I would be so gratful for your support.
Teresa
