I've raised £5000 to support and promote a positive and interactive animal education and care centre and care for the local community

Terraria & Aquaria's was founded in 2024 in Guernsey by Krissi Carre, with the intention of promoting the Education of Best Animal Welfare and Practices through positive and guided interaction with potential pet owners and the general public.
Education: We provide guided Interactive Encounters with a wide range of animals, hosted within our Education Centre based at Oatlands Village in Guernsey and supervised by a team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers.
Our interactive encounters are admission based (with the exception of charities, elderly care homes, pre-schools and groups such as scouts and guides), with admissions being ploughed straight back into our Centre, to create better exhibit and contribute to the ever increasing overheads of housing our residents.
Sanctuary: Terraria & Aquaria also provide permanent sanctuary to a number of reptiles and other small mammals who have all fallen foul to the lack of education or incorrect advice provided prior to their ownership. They in turn now live their best lives as part of our Education Centre, demonstrating the best methods of practice, teaching husbandry skills, and importantly, giving many people the chance to interact with these creatures who wouldn't ordinarily have the opportunity.
The Poppet Pet Scheme: The Poppet Pet Scheme has been implemented to educate new pet owners of any age on their given choice of animal, under our guidance and care.
The scheme is a 4 week initiative, which commences when you have chosen your pet. This can be any species of animal. Your pet will become a resident of the Education Floor for the 4 week course, and you will be required to attend to it every day, feeding, watering, cleaning, handling and learning basic care like nail trimming etc. The purpose of the scheme is to create confidence and knowledge of your pet, before you make the decision to bring it home, using us as your medium for all questions or concerns. The scheme is free of charge and is voluntary.
The Aim: Although we are animal welfare orientated, we don't want you not to have animals in your lives, we would rather that you have a long and happy relationship with them geared with all the information you need for the long term care of whichever species you choose.
For this aim, we would like to expand our activities, provide state of the art living spaces for all our residents, and improve and promote the positive educational and emotional aspects of keeping animals as pets. We also need to ensure we can continue to take in unwanted pets and provide care for them for the remainder of their lives.
