In September 2021 our 65 year old dad Terry Reuben was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. After all of the tests dad was put on the pathway to have 70% of his Esophagus and 70% of his stomach removed in February which would have meant NED (No Evidence of Disease). We were advised if there were any cancerous cells in any part of his body during the lead up it would not be able to go ahead. Sadly we got the news on Wednesday 8th December that this has now spread to his liver and is not eligible for the surgery and given months to live. Since his diagnosis he has lost 5 stone and has not been able to eat or drink and is solely reliant on a feeding tube as the tumour is blocking his esophagus.

We are currently speaking with a number of treatment centres who have advised Esophageal and liver cancer can be treated with a new treatment called Proton Beam Therapy which is not available to everyone on the NHS as there is one machine in the UK for NHS patients.

We have had someone in the same position as Dad reach out who had the Proton Beam Therapy and Chemo and 20 months later is in recovery (NED). This is not the only story we have heard like this.

The consultation is booked but we have been advised that the cost for this treatment alone is between 45k-60k without any other treatment needed. We will have an exact amount of treatment cost next week where we will amend the target accordingly. We are looking for the treatment to start at the Rutherford Cancer Centre. The full amount needs to be paid upfront before the treatment can start but if all ok to go ahead could start in 4/5 weeks.. We will update this page every step of the way with every meeting that we have. This treatment will save our dad and all we ask if even if you could donate a £1 or share this page it will make such a big difference.

The funds we are raising is for the treatment and any fees for accommodation, living costs etc that he may need while undergoing treatment.
