Story
Who we are:
The Edinburgh Samba School (TESS) are a loud and lively community performance group & charity specialising in authentic rhythms from the flamboyant Carnival culture of Brazil- All funds raised by TESS are used to sustain the group’s activities in the community - teaching, rehearsing, purchase and maintenance of instruments - as well as a variety of outreach projects.
Why we need your help:
Sadly on Tuesday our beloved van was stolen, containing most of our drums. This has been a devastating blow to TESS, and with less than a week to go before we perform at the International Samba Festival in Coburg (Germany) this has hit us hard. With limited resources and very little time we are desperately trying to raise funds to enable us to continue and function as normally as we can with a busy Summer season ahead of us. Whilst we are in discussions with our insurers it is anticipated that any money we may receive for our van and contents is unlikely to cover anywhere near the value of what we have lost. Please help us by donating what you can, and by showing whomever did this that Community spirit will prevail!
UPDATE: You may have noticed that we have increased our target to £4500. The reason being that sadly we have had our insurance pay out and this has not been as much as we had hoped. This has left us very short of an amount that would allow to purchase a new van to keep us running. So please keep giving generously. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Your help is appreciated more than you'll ever know!!!!

Sorry to hear about the theft. Are you the same Samba band that used to teach at Gracemount High School in Edinburgh. My daughters were in the Gilmerton parade playing Samba drums around Oct 2009.

Sorry to hear the sad news about Tessie and the drums, but glad to see you got over to Coburg for the Samba madness (and Pitu goodness!). All the best from sunny Hertfordshire.

I said I'd pop some cash in after Coburg, I just didn't realise how long!! It was great to see you there and you'll be back on your feet in no time. Big hugs to all. Fred, London School of Samba

Can't really quantify what TESS means to me, so here's twenty quid instead! Long live the orange joy machine.
