Story

Every small donation can get us to the total.

Imagine not being able to access education? That is the fate of many orphan and vulnerable children in Teso, Uganda. It is why a group of community leaders established a new NGO called TEYAPI4Peace. Putting young people on a path to peace with the skills and scientific understanding to use their land and natural resources to sustain their futures. So far we are supporting 15 children through primary and secondary school. An additional 10 were funded by local villagers but their ability to do this was knocked out by Covid. I am hoping we can crowd fund the resources to get these children back into school. TEYAPI only exits through donations. If anyone has access to ways to help the voluntary board to access some resources to sustain their operations, please do get in touch.

Annual cost per primary student is £430

Annual cost per secondary student is £630

This includes all of the materials, uniforms and resources that they need. The charity receives no other support apart from donations.

A story of one young person supported:

AR’s Journey

AR is a 14-year-old girl from the Teso region, where many families struggle with poverty. AR’s parents saw marriage as a financial solution rather than a future for their daughter. At just 12 years old, after sitting for her Primary Leaving Exams, Ritah was forced into marriage.

"My parents had no money to educate me," AR recalls, her eyes reflecting her pain. "So they decided I shouldn't return to school but get married instead."

Thankfully, AR’s life took a hopeful turn when TEYAPI4Peace stepped in. We provided her with the sponsorship she desperately needed to return to school. Now in Senior Two, AR is not just a student but a beacon of hope for many girls in similar situations.

"Education has given me a new life," AR says. "But there are so many girls like me who still need help. Please support TEYAPI4Peace with funds so they can continue to help girls in Teso who are in my category."

Our aim is for AR to attain sufficient education to be able to sustain herself through using the local land and natural resources.
