Story
This crowdfunder is aimed at providing funds for repairs to Thairish Café on Stockport Road, Levenshulme, which has been severely damaged following a fire in the kitchen on Sunday 18th August 2019.
Our Mum inherited the cafe from her brother Micheal Lyons, who passed away on the 17th August 2013 after struggling with a long term heart condition for 2 years. It was always his dream that the cafe would continue to be run by his sister and remain a safe and homely place for the local community and our loyal regular customers, which has been in our family for over 15 years.
Our Mum has been working so hard running the business alongside a full time job for past 6 years, so she could keep our uncles dream alive.
We are so devastated that the business has been totally destroyed so quickly from a uncontrolled fire and we are so upset to see our uncle Michael's original paintings, that have been hung on the wall since his passing, have been destroyed.
Despite the best efforts of the staff to overcome the fire, it quickly spread and has totally gutted the kitchen and caused serious smoke damage, so that both floors now require extensive repairs.
Our Mum the owner has public liability insurance to protect her customers against injury but the buildings insurance does not cover the damage to the contents which means the café will no longer be able to operate without your generosity .
The café has been a key part of the Levenshulme community for many years and we hope that we can pull back from this tragedy with your support.
All expenditure will be fully transparent with any leftover monies donated to a local charity .
Thank you in advance for your help. John, Lindsey and Ciara.
