Story
We are trying to raise funds to purchase a new set of men’s racing oars for Truro River Rowing Club (a gig rowing club based in Cornwall) by rowing one of our traditional wooden pilot gigs the navigable section of the Thames from Lechlade North of Swindon to the Thames Barrier in London, a total of 241km. Quite a feat as our races are only around 3k!
Given the current lockdown we have had to adapt our plans so while we can’t yet set off on our marathon row, Nathan Radbone (born and bred in the Lechlade area) is going to row this epic distance in 18 stages on a rowing machine, starting the 1st of June and we would be keen to invite any of your members for a ‘row-along’ for his journey.
Our plan, government restrictions pending, is to repeat this journey in one of our pilot gigs later this year and hopefully to stop by as many of the clubs who joined us for the row-along as we can. We would be very keen to hear from you if you are interested in this, and in the meantime we hope some of your members would be interested in our ergo row-along!
We have set up a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Lechlade-Thames-Barrier-fundraising-row-107719747615403) with more information on our cause as well as the individual stages, and if you are interested in the virtual row-along or the actual journey later this year then please get in touch!
