I'm hoping to be able to go on a humanitarian trip with my class to a small village in Nepal called Thaprek. The inhabitants of this village struggle to get access to basic needs such as heating for their home or cooking food. For instance, everyday, women are sent on a 4 hour long walking trip to collect wood and carry it back to their family in order to provide heat and be able to cook.

World Volunteers organise trip for teens to go there and help the community, through an amazing idea: building an bio-gas oven. It is a clever system that allows to turn waste into bio-gas and then into heat. This will not only help them but also save the environment preventing the burning of wood consequently avoiding the release of carbo dioxide into our atmosphere. It also means, no more 4 hour daily walk for the women, which will be a huge improvement in their quality of life.

I was lucky enough to be chosen to take part of the project and I'm really looking forward to go there in October for two weeks. I see the trip to Thaprek as an amazing opportunity for me to personally learn and experience a different lifestyle and understand a different reality to mine. At the same time, going to this village is the chance for me to contribute to a community in helping build an oven for all the people in need so that they can have access to heat. But all of this can't happen if you can't help me a little. Your money WILL make a difference, even if it's just one pound, every little help will count towards my trip.

J'espère pouvoir faire un voyage humanitaire avec ma classe dans un petit village au Népal appelé Thaprek. Les habitants de ce village ont du mal à accéder aux besoins essentiels tels que le chauffage de leur maison ou la cuisson des aliments. Par exemple, tous les jours, les femmes font un voyage de quatre heures pour ramasser du bois pour le rapporter à leur famille afin de fournir de la chaleur et de pouvoir cuisiner.

World Volunteers organise un voyage pour les adolescents comme moi afin d'aider la communauté, à travers une idée géniale: construire un four à bio-gaz. C'est un système astucieux qui permet de transformer des déchets en bio-gaz pour fournir de la chaleur. Cela non seulement les aidera, mais sauvera aussi l'environnement en empêchant la combustion du bois, évitant ainsi la libération de dioxyde de carbone dans notre atmosphère. Cela signifie également, que les femmes ne vont plus avoir a marcher 4 heures tous les jours, ce qui sera une énorme amélioration de leur qualité de vie.

J'ai eu la chance d'avoir été choisi pour participer au projet et j'ai hâte d'y aller en octobre pendant deux semaines. Je vois le voyage à Thaprek comme une opportunité incroyable pour moi d'apprendre et d'expérimenter un style de vie différent et de comprendre une réalité différente de la mienne. En même temps, aller dans ce village est l'occasion pour moi de contribuer à une communauté, en aidant a construire un four pour tout le monde afin qu'ils puissent avoir accès à la chaleur. Mais tout cela ne peut pas arriver si vous ne pouvez pas m'aider un peu. Votre argent fera la différence, même si c'est juste un euro, chaque petite aide comptera pour mon voyage.
