Story
COVID-19 is one of the greatest challenges the NHS has ever faced. As a community most of us will either know someone affected by this terrible virus or someone working on the NHS frontline in the fight against the coronavirus.
All donations go over and above what the NHS can provide and really do make a difference for both staff and patients on the wards. Decisions on what needs to be prioritised are made by those working very closely with frontline staff to ensure they have everything they need.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is working very closely with voluntary individuals and groups that are making visors, scrubs and other items known as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – this ensures there is a co-ordinated approach to production and distribution, and to ensure the quality of the equipment is suitable to be used by health care staff.
Awyr Las (the North Wales NHS Charity) has already bought raw materials for visor makers, using donations that were given specifically for that purpose.
All donations will specifically support extras that are to help patients affected by COVID-19, and the NHS staff that are caring for them, in North Wales. Examples of how the money you raise may be used include:
Ipads / communication devices for patients to be able to stay in contact with their families whilst in hospital
Additional PPE if it is required
Important extras, for example volunteer expenses and extra meals for frontline staff working long hours
Additional emotional support for frontline NHS staff
All donations will be given directly to the NHS Charity Awyr Las, supporting staff and helping patients in the local area.
