Story

BRIDGE FOR HOPE is a group of local residents who want to provide direct support to the resettlement of a refugee family in Kingsbridge. We want to provide a welcoming and safe place for a young family who, through no fault of their own, has been deprived of their home due to violence and war. BRIDGE FOR HOPE has teamed up with KINGSBRIDGE PRIMARY SCHOOL PTFA to raise funds.

To raise funds, children and carers will undertake a BIG WALK on Saturday 11th June 2022. To join the walk, meet at Tor Cross in the tank car park at 10am. Together, we will walk the South West Coast Path from Torcross to Start Point (approximately 3.5 miles). Many displaced people, with very young children and babies, must walk many miles through treacherous terrain. The BIG WALK is a tiny reminder of the journeys refugees must make to reach safety.

All the money raised will go directly to supporting the refugee family (to pay for interpreters and English classes, for example, so that they become independent as soon as possible) AND to Kingsbridge Primary School PTFA, to pay for a range of educational activities and facilities. All proceeds will be be split 60/40 between Bridge for Hope and the PTFA.

Please join the walk if you can! Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer as school and Bridge for Hope cannot take direct responsibility for children.

Thank you so much for your compassion and generosity.
