Welcome to The Care Jar, a brand new fundraiser for the incredible Another World Belfast!

Who?

Another World Belfast are a local community organisation who support people in our city who need a bit of help, and they do it without judgement or ego, but with bucketloads of compassion, humour and infectious energy. Founders Connor and Becky are creative activists who raise funds for their work by making and selling ethical products. Through their project Show Some Love Pack, they have distributed over 100,000 personal care products to people in need.

Why?

You know that sinking feeling you get when you can’t believe how stuck in the past our country sometimes seems and you're mortified by it? Well, I’ve had enough of it and I need to do something to show I care! I’m pledging that from now on, every time my heart sinks because of the hate on display in our society or in our politics, I’m taking that feeling and turning it into something positive. I’d love you to join me in turning hate into hope!

What on earth is a Care Jar?

You've heard of a swear jar... Well, every time I catch myself rolling my eyes, shedding a tear or swearing about the goings-on here in NI, I’m putting money in my Care Jar and donating it to AWB. Of course, I will continue to challenge discrimination in every way I can but for those overwhelming moments that I can't do anything about, knowing I'm fundraising for these amazing humans who help local people will put my mind at ease a little. Next time you find yourself feeling fed up, I hope you'll remember the Care Jar and join me in making something good happen!

Becky and Connor's 'Show Some Love' artwork, which you can spot all over Belfast, is a symbol of hope and renews my spirits every time I see its bold colours brightening up the streets, reminding us that another world IS possible... The Care Jar fundraiser is my small way of supporting them in the work they do for others, and to say a massive THANK YOU for reminding me that NI is not just boring old green and orange, it’s a massive bloody rainbow!
