The Dorset Destroyers Wheelchair Rugby Club was formed in 2014. It is run by a bunch of friends who work hard to keep it going and do it all voluntarily.

The Destroyers has changed people's lives by giving them the opportunity to play, and also to enjoy the social side of being involved in a team sport, which for many disabled people is often not achievable.

One of The Dorset Destroyers players, Ben Steele, has won a Gold and Bronze Medal in the Invictus Games, 2014 and 2016 and we have many other players whose ambition is to get into the Team GB Squad.

It doesn't matter if a player wants to play for Team GB or just recreationally, it's just being given the chance to play a highly competitive disability sport which brings the players together and the moments of fun you can have with your team mates.

Due to the expensive nature of buying and maintaining disability sporting equipment (over £3000 per chair alone!) we rely entirely on local fund raising to keep the club going

On the 30th July, members of the club will be taking part in a 10km sponsored cross country wheelchair push around a circuit at Holton Lee, Poole. In the hope to raise enough to cover the repair cost of our 19 chairs, and purchase one new chair over our summer break.
