The goal is simple, eliminate the use of plastic straws in hospitality venues, such as nightclubs, pubs and restaurants etc. (to start)
Why?
Plastic is a major issue within are oceans effecting not only marine wildlife but also causing horrendous health issues within the human population, you’ve heard of cancer right?
It only a straw?!
Indeed it is, yet 8.5 billion are used each year in the UK alone! Oh and that’s just the fast food industry! They live forever, maybe not as a physical straw but the toxins from the material, and as Queen once sang.. ‘Who wants to live forever!?’
This is a campaign. Not solely educating about plastic pollution but to change attitudes.
Venues take the Pledge, to not use plastic straws but buy our eco-friendly straws.
Why stop there?! Take the Silver Pledge, that all profits from selling these straws will be donated to an environmental charity of your choice.
The venue and pledge level along with the amount of plastic not used and money donated will be listed on our website.
This is a movement. This is about change. And that’s why venues are already ready and waiting to get on board!
Possibilities are endless
The foundations are built. It is now time to strike.
We are currently preparing for the official launch of ‘The Green Whale’ - televised on local TV.
Which involves many films and videos on social media and other sites (will be linked in the next couple of weeks). This will help gain an extra 10 venues to our supporters already. Showing everyone this movement is strong at launch. An easy goal.
Weeks to follow; communities will always make something special happen if they believe in it and what better place to start than Bristol. This movement will be wildfire, that’s why we need to ensure stocks are ready to hit venues and our brand is seen throughout Bristol.
