Story
Honouring a Scottish Legend & Supporting Dementia Care
We are creating a memorial garden honouring James Martin, the beloved Scottish actor who recently passed away. This peaceful space will be designed especially for the elderly and those with dementia, offering a calm and welcoming environment to sit, reflect, and enjoy nature.
Why This Garden?
James Martin touched the hearts of many, both on and off-screen. His warmth, humour, and kindness left a lasting impact, and we want to create a meaningful tribute in his name that continues to bring joy and comfort to the community. This garden will serve as a dementia-friendly retreat and a sanctuary for elderly folks visiting The Hollies Community Hub, Musselburgh, daily. It will be a place where they can sit outside, enjoy a cup of tea, soak up the sunshine, and chat with friends in a peaceful and relaxing environment.
What the Garden Will Feature
🌱 Comfortable seating for relaxation and reflection
🌿 A sensory herb garden to engage the senses and spark memories
🌸 Choice planting designed to be soothing and accessible for all
🪑 A dedicated memorial space to honour James’ legacy
How You Can Help
We need your support to bring this vision to life! Donations will go toward:
✅ Garden materials (plants, benches, pathways)
✅ Signage and a commemorative plaque for James
✅ Ongoing maintenance to keep the space beautiful for years to come
✅ A round patio-style bench for folks to gather around
✅ Trellis screening to hide the work space
✅ A volunteer to paint the shed
✅ A plumber to fit an outside tap
✅ An electrician to install two external power sockets
Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. Even £5 can help plant a flower, while £10 can buy a paving slab—or if you wish, you could sponsor a bench for visitors.
💙 Donate today and help us build a lasting tribute to James Martin.
📢 Please share this fundraiser with friends, family, and fans of James—together, we can make this garden a reality!
