Story

The Horwich & District Hub has been in operation for one year and has been directly supporting 25 or so people each week, with further people indirectly supported. Since the lockdown for Covid-19 our client base has almost doubled, whilst two of our three Trustees are isolating. This has massively increased the workload of our remaining active Trustee and strained our resources, especially with storage capacity. We have been successful in sourcing food and are now also providing food to other organisations who support ex-service personnel, the elderly and other food providers.

In order to service the increased throughput of food our storage facility has become inadequate. In addition we have attracted additional volunteers. To see us through this crisis we estimate that we need in the region of £200/month to pay for additional storage capacity, additional insurance costs for volunteers and out-of-pocket expenses for volunteers. No one knows how long this crisis is going to last but our help is needed more than ever and will continue to be important for a long time into the future.

We have been forced to crowdfund because we are not a registered Community Interest Organisation we cannot apply for many of the funding opportunities that exist.
