Story

Do you ever feel like the outdoors is unavailable to you once the sun goes down?

Many people find they’re unable to access outside spaces after dark, often because they simply don’t feel safe. This means that, come winter, nature becomes inaccessible for much of the working week.

At Wellderness, we believe nature should be accessible to everyone, more of the time.

For our February Community Garden Social, we’re raising funds to help break down this barrier and continue creating safe, inclusive opportunities for people to spend time in nature, including after dark.

Why we’re fundraising

The funds raised will help Wellderness continue our work supporting people to access green spaces in ways that feel welcoming, supported and safe. This includes facilitated sessions, volunteer support, and the practical costs of running inclusive community events.

To raise these funds, we’re hosting a sponsored moonlit stroll around Brooklands Park.

Meeting as the sun starts to dip, Wellderfolk will stroll or roll together around this wonderful community space. Each lap is approximately 2.5km, and participants can take part in one lap, two laps, or simply spend time in the Community Garden with a warm drink and company.

Supported by a team of volunteers, the evening is designed to show that nature after dark can be calm, connected and accessible.

How you can help

We know money is tight for many people, so we won’t set unreasonable targets. Anything you’re able to donate will help.

By donating to this fundraiser, you’re helping Wellderness make nature more accessible for more people, more of the time.

Thank you for supporting this work. It really does make a difference.
