On October 16th 2012 our mother, Thalia, was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer with lesions on the liver and (as of last year) a few on the lungs. Thankfully, after surgery, we just have to deal with the liver and lungs. Her cancer is pretty slow moving but chemotherapy hasn't been working very well. We have found a new procedure (called Chemoembolization) that has been helping a lot and shrinking the tumors by 90%. However, her liver is now almost full of cancer because we haven't managed to get this procedure done in a long time. It's extremely important to perform it every 2 to 3 months in order to keep her alive. Her oncologist, though, is misinformed, refuses to learn more, and has been trying to convince us to give up. We cannot have it performed without the oncologist's help since she is the only one who can ask the government for funds. We've been fighting to find the money ourselves, mostly through the Church but it costs about 5000 euro, and has to be performed frequently. So this is our last chance to collect at least part of the amount needed to save our mother's life.
