Weʼre raising £250 to help our young ones back home

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Hey guys. Hope you're good and I mean if you've gotten this far into the sentence you must be interested in why I'm trying to raise money.

Everyone who knows me well knows it always been a dream of mine to go back home to Ghana and offer as much help within my capacity - which is one of the reasons why I am studying to become a Paediatric Nurse. I want to be able to use the skills I learn over here in UK and utilize them in a place where health and education services aren't as readily available. A couple of years ago I lost my grandma to a stroke and honestly she was the most generous and kindest woman you'd ever meet and till this day that is what everyone remembers her for - and because of this I have launched a foundation in her name - The Abena Abakomah Foundation. If I can be half the woman she was then in terms of her kindness and how much she loved to help others then I'll know I've done something good in this life of mine. This August I will be travelling to Ghana to volunteer in a hospital in Accra but I also want to be able to kick start my foundation and visit a school in Apam, provide supplies and help out wherever it is needed. I've found that being born over here we tend to forget all the privileges we have and how much we take everything for granted including something as small as the exercise books we get given for free when we're in school.

Whilst I am at the school I will aiming to help out classrooms as a TA but I also want to be able to speak with the teachers to see what their concerns are and how I can best help. In addition to this, I intend to make up some classroom starter packs which will include exercise books, stationary, and for the girls I will be putting some sanitary towels in the packs as I am aware that there are some families that cant afford these basics.

I know that it may not sound like a big deal to some people but its these little things that make a big difference. You can be a part of the journey towards making a change for our family back home by making a donation, anything at all will make a difference. In the future I plan to have fundraisers and events which will help me be able to continue the work I want to do.

Any questions please feel free to message or call me. God Bless and thank you x
