What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

Hey guys. Hope you're good and I mean if you've gotten this far into the sentence you must be interested in why I'm trying to raise money.

Everyone who knows me well knows it always been a dream of mine to go back home to Ghana and offer as much help within my capacity - which is one of the reasons why I am studying to become a Paediatric Nurse. I want to be able to use the skills I learn over here in UK and utilize them in a place where health and education services aren't as readily available. A couple of years ago I lost my grandma to a stroke and honestly she was the most generous and kindest woman you'd ever meet and till this day that is what everyone remembers her for - and because of this I have launched a foundation in her name - The Abena Abakomah Foundation.

In August 2018 I travelled to Ghana and with the donations made was able to give out over 200 exercise books and stationary to The Apam Apostolic School. During my trip I also completed my 3 week placement at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in the Child Health department. This allowed me to view first hand the conditions in which patients are cared and it also has an impact on the nurses. I also worked on the neonatal intensive care unit where I encountered mothers who couldn't afford the basics of things such as wipes and even babies who have been abandoned by their mothers.

So with this being said, I am raising money to provide another school with exercise books etc. I also want to go back to Korle Bu Hospital and donate hand santizers, Clinell wipes, gloves and aprons etc to the Child Health dept and the NICU. For the mothers I want to buy nappies and wipes. I want to ask that if you have any baby clothes, bottles, or dummies etc which you do not use and could be donated and of use to someone else please do contact me.

I know that it may not sound like a big deal to some people but its these little things that make a big difference. You can be a part of the journey towards making a change for our family back home by making a donation, anything at all will make a difference.

Any questions please feel free to message or call me. God Bless and thank you x

Thank you so much for all your donations! I’ve received so much love and support and it’s very much appreciated. And thank you to everyone who’s donated clothes too! ❤️ With your donations I’ve been able to start buying Clinell antibacterial and baby wipes wipes to be distributed at Korle Bu Hospital in Accra. Your donations help me to continue doing something amazing for those less privileged than us.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who donated, I went to Ghana and visited Apam Apostolic School. I was able to provide learning materials such as stationary and exercise books for the children. With your help I was able to donate 200 exercise books and for that I am extremely grateful and I hope to continue this and provide books for them and other school every 3-4 months. Again thank you so much for your ongoing support ❤️
