Story

Our aim is to raise at least £500 for The Archie Cruickshank Foundation by doing the Mumbles Half Ironman (Tri 70.3)

Hugo Lear, Murray Abel, Ned Collins

Dear Friends/ Family,

A little while ago, Hugo, Murray and I decided to enter into a half Ironman in aid of The Archie Cruickshank Foundation setup in memory of a dear friend, which aims to raise awareness surrounding animal welfare with a passionate incentive to involve children in unfortunate social, medical situations as a means of education and direction.

My training for this has been less than ideal with the last few weeks visiting my brother Sam in the far east spending each day ‘surfing’ but I plan to draw upon a vast reserve of natural ability to pull me round. Hugo, meanwhile has discovered running into gale force winds for long periods of time disconnects any feeling with his feet adding an extra dose of excitement into the whole affair. Whilst for Murray, this challenge is another big milestone in his transformation from former prop forward to vegan fitness nut and I fully expect him to be doing a few crunches at the finish line.

Charity Information, Excerpt from The Archie Cruickshank Foundation:

"The Archie Cruickshank Foundation has been established with the purpose of promoting humane behaviour towards animals by preventing and relieving suffering of abandoned and mistreated animals, in particular through provision of appropriate care, protection, treatment and security for animals in need. Additionally, the Foundation also addresses the needs of young people who are in need by reason of ill-health, addiction or other social and economic disadvantage, by providing opportunities to be exposed to, and work on behalf of, animals in animal-caring environments in order to develop their skills, capacities and capabilities, thereby enabling them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.”
