As you may know, this year is the National Year of Reading, a huge government backed campaign designed to help more people (re)discover the joy in reading. There has been a huge decline in reading enjoyment in the UK, and given that reading for pleasure is one of the biggest early indicators for success in children, more so than financial background or family circumstances, I would love to do my bit in our local area to help children discover the magic of stories.

So I'm organising The Big Dundee Book Hunt! Taking place on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August at various locations across our city, I plan to hide as many books as possible in parks and green spaces for children to find and take home to keep. (Times and locations will be confirmed in early August - please keep an eye on my Facebook and Instagram for this!)

But I need your help! Any donation you can make, even as little as £5, could help get books into the hands of children across our community and give them a new story to share at home.
