Story

Around 1 in 6 young people in the UK suffer from anxiety or depression, a statistic which was worsened by the isolating affect of the Coronavirus pandemic. It is for this reason that we have decided to embark on a 'Big Ride' for charity on Wednesday 28th June; a circular marathon on horseback which will push our riding skills and resilience to their very limits in the name of mental health support for young people. Riding at Fyling Hall School has provided us with an invaluable respite from the stress of work and examinations - the chance to surround ourselves in the beauty of the North York Moors greatly benefitting our mental health. It is thus only right that we should utilise the incredible opportunity of riding as a tool to aid other young people in a strive for healthier minds for everyone. But we need your help! Any sponsorship or donation would be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small, and all funds raised will be split between Young Minds and The British Exploring Society; two amazing charities which seek to change the lives of many for good.

What is Young Minds?

Young Minds is a charity that fights for a ‘world where no young person feels alone with their mental health’, providing them with the tools needed to overcome severe issues such as depression and suicidal thoughts. They empower adults to be the best support they can be to the young people in their lives, and they give young people the space to get their voices heard; providing a lifeline to thousands of families, advising, and supporting them to understand their child's behaviour and to secure the right help.
