"Raising funds for Jim Harvey’s battle with Pancreatic Cancer"
As some of you may be aware, a good friend of ours, Jim Harvey is not very well and earlier this year was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Those of you who have read Jims elequently written blogs will have seen the additional issues thrown his way due to various lockdown delays that have added challenges to what was a tough task.
A few weeks ago, Jim went for into Sheffield hospital for an operation to have the cancerous tumour removed from his Pancreas but as he woke from the treatment he was told the operation (Whipple Prodedure) couldn‘t be completed as the cancer had already spread beyond the Pancreas. Sadly, at this point the prognosis became far bleaker.
Jim has now been waiting to start a course of chemotherapy at Weston Park, Sheffield which will commence on 25th of August to slow, stop or potentially reduce the growth which will at the very least give Jim some time back.
Jim has a young family at home supporting him with children 4, 12 and 13 along with his wife Helen.
Everyone is behind Jim and his family 100% but the harsh reality of the world is that whilst you are battling a disease such as this, normal costs month to month do not disappear.
The idea behind the fundraising is to raise cash that supports Jim and his family through these difficult times but also starts to create a surplus when Jim could reach a stage for Alternative treatments to be a realistic option.
*** Update on the Events. The 3 peaks walk has been completed, amazing effort by all involved given the conditions for the two days. The Boys did good***
W/C 24th of August.
**This week Tasha Walsh will be completing a skydive on the East Yorkshire Coast to keep momentum going. Tasha has not done this before and we know this takes some guts so we wish her well for this event and look forward to seeing her make it down safe and sound :)
** Katy Foster created a "Super Sundae" Ice Cream @ her Coffee House Harts in Wetherby with all donations going towards the effort and she has also managed to utilise her LUFC connections and we will have two signed, LUFC shirts up for grabs in coming weeks too!!!
*In coming weeks Tim Harvey is running a half marathon so we will update as that date is firmed up too.
*The Team will use this as a warm up for an attempt to walk the length of the East Yorkshire Coast ( around 130 Miles) in 3 days.
We know a lot of people want to see the back of 2020, its been hard on many people both financially and emotionally so we are only asking to donate what you can.
The Team appreciates you supporting Jim and his family.
