Story
The Bull Theatre is a small community venue with a big heart. The front of the building dates back to the 1530's and the 156 seat theatre was built on the back in the 1980's with funding raised by the people of Barnet. It is a registered charity, operates with no government funding, and is run by volunteers.
The seats are now beyond repair and we need to raise money for a complete refurbishment so we can keep our doors open for the community theatre groups who put on shows to raise money for their own charities. The theatre is home to a drama group for adults with learning difficulties and an elders dance company, as well as several children's classes in the performing arts - which are needed more than ever with all the school cuts in arts education.
The Bull Theatre is very active in the local community. It organises the annual Barnet Christmas Fayre, that brings in around 20,000 footfall to the high street, helping to promote local shops and businesses as well as raising money for several local charities.
For the past two years, The Bull Theatre has represented The London Borough of Barnet in the London Mayors' New Year's Day Parade in Central London. In 2017 Barnet's float came in sixth place and won £5,000 for Noah's Ark Children's Hospice and Dementia Club UK. In January 2018 we came fourth place winning £7,000 for Homeless Action in Barnet.
With the slow demise of our high street we are fighting to keep the theatre alive. It does not deserve to become a block of flats so please give what you can to The Bull Theatre, so The Bull Theatre can continue to give all it can to the community.
