Story
Each year thousands of cats are abandoned, dumped & left for dead by their so called owners. Even with all shelters working flat out there still isn’t enough space to get them the help they desperately need.
As a result, over 10,000 cats a YEAR are put to sleep because there is no where for them to go.
I have worked in cat rescue for 3 years now & helped run a local shelter in Bradford. While there I was horrified by the sheer number of cats abandoned, but my main concern was the number of un neutered male cats I saw who were homeless, fighting, getting injured & spreading FIV (also known as feline aids). Out of every 10 cats I would go to rescue, 9 of those were male. I soon figured out that it was easier to get a rescue space for females, mums & kittens because more people were willing to foster kittens than they were adult cats & people were more willing to foster female cats because they don’t smell like un neutered male cats do. I also noticed that boys were more likely to get kicked out for bad habits like spraying (common when not neutered) than girls were. This I believe is what contributes to the sheer volume of un neutered males running around.
I got sick of not being able to help due to lack of space, I can only help so many on my own home. So, I decided to start The Cat House Rescue.
At The Cat House Rescue our aim is to help get as many cats off the streets as possible & our focus is on adults, particularly males & the elderly that alot of rescues deem too expensive or difficult to take. Here, we help the sickest, the most scared & the most vulnerable of cats. We NEVER put a cat to sleep because there is no space. We always figure something out. Even if that means sitting in a Morrisons car park ringing round all rescues while the cat sleeps on the back seat (yes, I really did that!).
At the moment I’m starting with my cat cabin which is an insulated & heated house for cats with an ourdoor run. Plus my spare room. In time I would like to start adding foster families to our team to help even more cats get off the streets, get them the (very expensive) medical treatment they need and find them the loving homes they deserve.
However, to do all of this I need funds to get this project, which is desperately needed, off the ground & I need your help to do it.
Please help by donating today & lets save these poor cats from a life on the streets and get the into homes. Please don’t turn away like everyone else. Give them a voice. Together we can make a difference!
