Story

In mid December 2016, whilst attending a Business conference in Germany, Gary experienced a unique accident that left him requiring emergency surgery to both his neck and spine. Due to the injuries caused, Gary was left in a state of complete paralysis from the neck level down being unable to use his body, hands, arms or legs. After spending a week in intensive care in Osnabrueck, he then spent a further 5 weeks in a specialist spinal centre in Bochum (Germany). When Gary was strong and stable enough, he was airlifted back to the Princess Royal Spinal Centre (Sheffield, UK ) where he remained in rehabilitation for a further term of 6 weeks.

Now, six months on from the traumatic accident, Gary continues to make a determined recovery through hard work and mental positivity. His aim being to get back onto a bicycle and raise money for the wonderful professionals and fellow patients that he met on his journey of recovery , cycling to each of the Four, Specialist Hospitals where he was excellently cared for both in the UK and Germany.

Gary, Matt, Alfredo, Chris and Andre from Solarlux are taking on the challenge of cycling more than 600 km across three countries to raise money.
The journey is planned to start cycling at the Princess Royal Spinal Centre in Sheffield, taking the overnight ferry to Hook Of Holland, through the Netherlands to Germany to visit the remaining Hospitals in both Bochum and Osnabrueck . The final finishing destination will be the new and impressive Solarlux Headquarters in Melle, Germany.

We are counting on your support!
