Story

Having spent 9 years as a police dog handler in the RAF and now finding myself as a trainee Vicar (curate). When an e-mail came round asking for us to think about ways we could raise much needed funds to support the churches work in the community and a charity. It seemed a good idea to suggest climbing our church tower 500 TIMES!!! to the equivalent height of Mount Everest. With an incredible amount of enthusiasm (from those not having to climb the tower) the start date of the 25th of April has been chosen (after 2 abandoned starts due to lockdowns) with one week being allocated for this crazy curate to climb Mount Everest (or the equivalent height of anyway). Let’s hope we are able to leave ’Base Camp’ this time and begin the climb.

With your help I am hoping to raise money for the incredible outreach done through the church in supporting the local community, from their connections with the mothers union, the local schools, care home and the local food banks, to the support given to those most vulnerable through phone calls and home communions (when permitted).

Covid 19 has led to so many people struggling but it felt wrong just to focus on our own community and so we decided that half the money raised should go to the INF. They're work is well known by many in our community as The previous Vicar's son worked in Nepal and had friends that worked for INF as did the current Vicar's in-laws. Please help me to raise money for St Mark's church and the INF, if you can.

My huge thanks go out to those businesses who have agreed to sponsor me as I attempt this crazy endeavour, Quiggin's Original Kendal Mint Cake, David Willan Quality Fresh Foods , J.G. Mason and Son (Building Contractors and Joiners), Brewin dolphin, and Crosby Granger architects.

Having climbed for an official full first day of 4 hours today I'm now up to 135 climbs out of 500. You can see what the climbing inside the tower is like on the video. Thank you so much for all who are supporting and donating for me to do this. Your generosity is incredible, and will help so many people.

Hi everyone, I am blown away by your generosity and support. Thank you all so much. After two national lockdowns, I've finally been able to start and after this mornings service I have achieved my first 50 climbs. The encouragement is incredible and I'll be back on the mountain for 4 hours tomorrow, and every day this week. I will keep you posted.
