I hail from a place called Kerala which is southernmost state in India. Kerala is well known for its natural beauty and sandy beaches and Tourists from across the world visit Kerala throughout the year.
Well, I am sure most of you must have heard – This year the Monsoon rains were heavy which filled all our 28 dams in the state which had to be opened gradually and along with heavy downpours across the state eventually resulted in once in 100 years Floods.
The latest estimates are
• More than 350 People died
• Around 1 million people taken in to Refuge in around 5700 camps across the state
• Reports are that there are still people trapped in islands with no contact with the outside world
• The initial estimated suggest the floods have caused 2.3 Billion GBP of damage.
• At least 20000 homes swamped
