I've raised £600 to provide books to those in need of support in the East Malling area

With lockdown3.0 underway I am pleased to say I am working directly with The East Malling Centre and their Community Larder to give the gift of reading to those in need. I was personally shocked and saddened to read on The Literacy Trust's website that 1 in 11 of the UK's children don't have a single book of their own at home and – with limited use of public and school libraries due to COVID-19 – access to the life-enhancing world of books is being taken further out of reach. Research shows that when children own books, they do better at school and are happier with their lives and this is why I am asking for your support.
The Community Larder is a wonderful service that takes food donations from FareShare, local supermarkets and local farmers and distributes food parcels to those who need additional assistance. Our intention is to work directly with these families, whilst remaining Covid Secure, to provide a set of Usborne books that is tailored for each child needing our support.
I am seeking to raise £600 from across the community for this cause. If I can hit that figure Usborne will provide an additional 60% in free books meaning that I would be able to provide the East Malling Community Centre with £960 worth of books to be donated into the community.
Thank you for any support you can offer at this time.
Joanne
*Please take note I will also be donating all my commission from this process to the community larder as a food donation.
