I decided late winter 2017 to do a single release in aid of mental health, due to my forever battle with my depression, I find being creative is a great outlet and a way to find positivity within my creativity. Composing as well as music in general is my escape from a ever growing ignorant society that I feel no part of and I use that as my freedom to express myself, the track itself is entitled “The Fall of Emperor Less” essentially a fall of a higher power, a metaphor for mental health and overcoming the everyday struggle. I thought if I was going to release something I would love the opportunity to work with some idols of mine, and its with great pleasure to have the likes of Gil Sharone (Marilyn Mason, Stolen Babies) , Lee Thompson (Madness ) and members of his Ska Orchestra Steve White and Julian Rodic on board. Not to mention, being able to work closely with local illustrator Dean Morley and some fantastic local musicians like Jenn Cherene, and the woodwind section of local progressive outfit Spooky Jeffersons ideal lunchbox. The generosity of the musicians, engineers and companies who have worked for discounted rates or free of charge has made this more achievable and Im forever grateful.
Mental illness is a growing issue among all classes, races and ages, their is no escaping its grasp and it effects everyone in someway. My aim is to get people conversing and speaking out as well as raising awareness and to also fundraise for MIND, SARMATIANS AND TONIC.
