Story
The Friends of the Family Library, a dedicated group of volunteers who support events, fundraising and daily services, have launched a JustGiving campaign to help secure the future of the Isle of Man's much-loved Family Library.
Directors have announced plans to close the library on July 31 (the end of its financial year) as rising operational costs and declining income means they cannot guarantee total funding for the following 12 months.
However, the Friends-led fundraising drive aims to keep services running, initially for the remainder of 2025 and then beyond.
Based on Westmoreland Road in Douglas, the Family Library provides a vibrant hub for children, families, schools and adults, as well as operating a mobile library serving rural communities, a home service for those unable to visit in person and bibliotherapy to 17 residential and care homes within the community.
