Story

This page has been set up as a temporary means as to keep the Foundation afloat whilst normal sessions and fundraising events cannot take place due to the COVID-19 crisis. Quizzes will be held every Saturday and will be a great way for everyone in the community to stay in touch and stay positive through these trying times, and any donations are welcome.

The Godber Foundation aims to increase the number of people in Yorkshire who have access to cricket. Bringing new people into the game was something Ashley was a great advocate of, and it is for this reason many of us involved with the Godber Foundation are still playing cricket now. His enthusiasm was infectious and he was a joy to share a cricket field with. We feel it is important that we continue the work he did and make sure we do not miss out on fantastic cricketers due to the lack of opportunities. The Godber Foundation was set up in memory of local cricketing legend Ashley Godber. A star of both Beverley Town Cricket Club and Cherry Burton Cricket Club, Ashley was known far wider for his infectious personality and genuine love of cricket. Both Beverley Town and Cherry Burton Cricket Club’s were devastated by the news of Ashley’s passing, on Wednesday 31st May 2017, on his way to play for beloved Cherry Burton Cricket Club against PAK Challengers.
