Story

We’re asking for donations of just £2 to support The Good Dog Project, in memory of Neo the dog.

Neo was a rescue dog adopted in 2019 who struggled with behavioural challenges for his entire life. Our founder and trustee, Briony, dedicated all of her time, and every spare bit of money, to his training and rehabilitation. Neo said goodbye to his family in August 2024, a decision based on risk and quality of life.

The Good Dog Project is a new, UK-based charity (pending registered status) that aims to improve access to essential training and behaviour support for dog owners experiencing financial hardship. Through partnerships with qualified canine professionals and grant applications, the charity’s objective is to ensure that dogs don’t go without the support that they need regardless of their owner’s financial position.

Training issues and behavioural challenges can arise at any point in a dog's life. The reality is that not all insurance policies cover access to professional support, and some dog owners truly cannot afford to access the right help. We recognise the value of qualified trainers and behaviourists that use science-backed, reward-based methods and hope to help dog owners access that support for their pets regardless of financial income.

This fundraiser, launched a year after we said goodbye to Neo, asks for donations of just £2. We recognise that many good causes are appealing for support and that it’s hard to know where to direct your few spare pennies. This is why we’re asking for just a fraction of the cost of your morning takeaway coffee.

Your donations will go towards the charity’s grant programme, and directly impact individual dog owners who seek our support.
