The Greatest Thief of Time

My husband and I really wanted to have a baby girl. But then we found out that it’s a boy! We thought, okay, as long as the baby’s healthy, that’s all we could ever ask for. And when he was born, all this notion of wanting a baby girl just flew out the window. I thought, wow, what a beautiful miracle he is! What could be more precious than him?! His name is Tristan.

So our lives were changed. We decided to acquire a house instead of renting. We thought, this little guy has to live in a real house in a real neighborhood and have his own room! So from the apartment was located in the city, we had to find a place where rent was cheaper so we can save money and pay for the house.

What we didn’t anticipate was this monster of a thing called TRAFFIC. Our country has one of the worst traffic in the world. And sadly, our city is slowly catching up. We don’t have a car or any mode of transport so we commute and ride PUVs (public utility vehicles) like jeepneys. Nothing wrong with that. It’s actually more economical and saves you money.

But now, the time we waste lining up for the jeeps, getting stuck in traffic and lining up again to transfer to another jeep, far outweighs the amount that we save. We'd spend 5 hours everyday of travel time from home to work and back. That’s 25 hours per week that we waste every day, on the road. Those 25 precious hours we could have spent at home with our son.

He’s growing up so fast. But my husband and I have to wake up 5 am and leave for work while he’s still asleep. And we noticed that he’s not sleeping early and really waits for us to come home and likes that we read to him so he can fall asleep. Even my little boy has to lose sleep just because of this traffic.

And so now I’m asking for your help to raise money for a motorcycle,the cheapest, most economical mode of transport we can have.No matter how big or small, any help would mean a lifetime of a difference for us. Maraming salamat po!
