Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. This year our family have decided to lace up our trainers and start walking in aid of dementia.

On Thursday the 2nd of November, we will walk round Glasgow Green (roughly 3.68km) to raise money to help with the development of the dementia garden at The Haining care home in Maddiston.

Every 3 minutes at least one person is diagnosed with dementia. 1 in 6 people over the age of 80 have dementia and 40,000 people under the age of 65 also suffer with dementia. Dementia proves extremely challenging and effects the lives of everyone involved physically and psychologically. The Haining care home would love to give something back in aid of dementia and the residents of The Haining by raising funds to support and continuously provide cognitive stimulation for all whilst residing in the care of The Haining. Providing a dementia garden would not only exercise the body, mind and spirit but would actively build relationships whilst also decreasing agitation and anxiety. Our family like many others have been affected by a relative suffering from dementia and experienced first-hand how difficult this was to go through not only for that individual alone but everyone caring and supporting them.
