    Story

During half term I took the children into University with me. They had a lovely day but were very concerned about the man that sleeps rough outside the station and the other people they saw sleeping rough. We spent a lot of time talking about how people may get stuck in these situations and how it could happen to any of us. The children have been begging me that we raise some money for the homeless since. As there has been a lot of talk about charity at school with the upcoming Children In Need I directed them to the Shelter website and we looked together. This year it is estimated 120,000 children will be homeless this winter: https://england.shelter.org.uk/ so we have decided rather than feeling sad we will be trying to be proactive the best way we can. The children choose to ride their bikes and we have decided to try a family 10K cycle to raise money for anyone out on the street this Christmas. We spend so much time counting up what we want and don't have we forget to look at what we do and to appreciate how much others without those basics struggle.

We would love for you to donate to help us put a roof over as many children's heads as possible this winter.

All 5 of us will be cycling on the 26th November (Arthur will be in the trailer) around Willen Lake in Milton Keynes. Any support you can give us is gratefully received.

£10 can pay for a 10 minute phone call, giving advice
    through our helpline.
£45 can help train a Shelter adviser to deal with vulnerable
adults, and protect children at risk.
£150 can help pay for up to seven hours of a Shelter
adviser’s time, during which they could issue court proceedings
to prevent a family being evicted.
£250 can pay to transfer a family from a condemned
property into a safe, secure home.
£500 can run an after-school club for one month, helping
homeless and badly housed children to build their self-esteem.
£1,000 can prevent one family per week being evicted

    Lots of love,
    The Johnsons
